Introduction

Coast Mountain Cannabis is a 100% certified organic cannabis brand, located in the heart of Pemberton, BC. This region has been a hub for cannabis cultivation for decades, and Coast Mountain Cannabis is proud to carry on this legacy. The brand is committed to using organic living soil  to grow clean cannabis sustainably and responsibly, ensuring a high-quality product that consumers can trust and enjoy.

The Brand Story

The Genesis: Coast Mountain Cannabis has its roots in the original medical cannabis market but pivoted its focus when recreational laws changed. The brand was founded by a group of passionate individuals with the cultivation team lead by Elliot, a Master Grower with years of experience in organic farming and craft cannabis cultivation. Being organic and sustainable are values at the very core of what we do. 98% of  electricity we use is from renewable sources.

The Journey: As a small independent brand, Coast Mountain works tirelessly in its craft to compete, and their love for the plant, the environment and the community has been a constant driving force. The founders are still actively involved, fostering a chill working environment where employees love where they live and love what they do and put their best selves into the product. They live by the tagline “You’re Beautiful”

The Present: Currently, Coast Mountain Cannabis operates with approximately 20 employees, including a cultivation team of four. The brand boasts two flower rooms and a genetics/mother room, with plans to add four more grow rooms by year end. The cultivation process is rooted in regenerative living soil practices, built with unique organic soil amendments to improve soil structure and keep the micro-life thriving. Healthy soil leads to healthy plants.

The Future: Coast Mountain Cannabis is a product-led brand that values the growing process. We want to be recognised as a leading premium craft producer and care way more about quality of our flower than the size of our operation.  As a company we are committed to collaborations with the local community and businesses, and are excited about the future of sustainable, responsible organic cannabis cultivation.

The Product for Competition

Selection Reasoning: The brand has submitted two products for competition: BC Organic Peanut Butter Soufflé (PBS) and BC Organic Dancehall. PBS is the only one of its kind in the market, boasting a unique terpene profile and creamy flavor. Dancehall, on the other hand, is a more balanced high-CBD strain that is flavourful and enjoyable, offering a relaxed all day experience.

Category Placement: Both PBS and Dancehall are organically grown in living soil, hang-dried, and always hand-trimmed. PBS is an indica-dominant hybrid with 21-27% THC, while Dancehall is a sativa-dominant hybrid with 11.3% CBD and 8.6% THC.

Product Uniqueness: What sets these products apart is their unique cultivation process, which includes the use of organic compost teas to promote active and healthy soil biology. This method not only produces cleaner and tastier cannabis but is also part of a truly sustainable solution.

Master Grower Interview

The Genetics: The genetics of the submitted products are unique. Peanut Butter Soufflé is a cross between Lava Cake and Do-Si-Dos, while Dancehall is a cross between Juanita La Lagrimosa and Kalijah.

The Growing Techniques and Equipment: Coast Mountain Cannabis uses no-till, regenerative soil practices, and organic beds. They also use insect frass to create a systemic immune response in the plants, leading to more terpenes and actives. Coast Mountain Cannabis employs an innovative and sustainable approach to cannabis cultivation through the use of compost tea blended in house. This organic concoction is brewed to unlock beneficial microorganisms, which are then applied to the soil to enhance its health and fertility. The compost tea promotes active soil biome, improving soil structure, water retention, and nutrient cycling. This method not only contributes to the growth of robust and flavourful cannabis plants but also aligns with the brand’s commitment to regenerative agriculture and environmental sustainability. By watering and feeding the soil instead of the plants, Coast Mountain Cannabis ensures the longevity and vitality of the soil’s micro-life, leading to a truly sustainable cultivation process.

Curing and Post-Harvest Processing: The brand has perfected its drying and curing method, ensuring optimal moisture levels every time. The cannabis is hang-dried with climate control for maximum terpene levels and optimum moisture content.

Packaging and Branding: All crops are hand-trimmed, sweet-cured, and then packaged for the Purchase Order after receiving a Certificate of Analysis. Their size enables them to keep packaged on dates as fresh as possible.  Coast Mountain Cannabis does not use plastic packaging. Flower is packaged in glass jars that customers are encouraged to re-use and pre-rolls are sold in recycled cardboard packaging.

Conclusion

Coast Mountain Cannabis is a brand that is deeply committed to regenerative agriculture and sustainable practices. They aim to be a leader in the way cannabis cultivation is conducted and show the world that it’s possible to grow organic cannabis indoors with a lower environmental footprint. They care deeply about 3 things: their people, their customers and the environment. “Feel Better: Heal Better”
