Introduction

Pineapple Buds is not your average micro-cultivator. With its deep-rooted love for cannabis cultivation and a brand name that transports you to the tropical island vibes of Hawaii, Pineapple Buds represents the spirit of boutique craft cannabis cultivation.

The Brand Story

The Genesis

Pineapple Buds is a testament to a shared passion for high-quality cannabis cultivation, nurtured by Kyra and Lane, who together boast decades of experience in the craft. Kyra has over seven years growing-cannabis under her belt. Lane, on the other hand, has been around farming all his life, as a part of a five-generation farming family, and began growing cannabis at 19. Their combined love for the herb led them to create Pineapple Buds in 2020.

The Journey

Their brand name, Pineapple Buds, has a unique and fun story. On a memorable trip to Hawaii’s Dole Pineapple Plantation, the duo found themselves in awe of the plantation’s popularity. Tourists, captivated by the allure of Dole Pineapple Whip, filled their bags with the treat. Inspired by this sight, Kyra envisioned creating a similar desire for her products, and thus, Pineapple Buds was born. A name as unique and fun as the strains they grow.

The Present

Now, Pineapple Buds is nestled on indigenous land in the Okanagan region of BC, a stone’s throw from local wineries like Jackson-Triggs. The 10,000 square foot facility is a beacon of their dedication, sporting state-of-the-art equipment that combines the best of HPS and LED lighting. Their cultivation method of choice? Deep Water Culture. This method, although expensive initially, offers robust growth rates and economic efficiency. In this space, Kyra and Lane do most of the work themselves, further infusing their personal love and care into each batch of cannabis.

The Future

Looking ahead, Pineapple Buds sees a bright and exciting future. The brand aims to keep refining its operations based on valuable consumer feedback to provide a consistent, quality experience for their customers. As they look towards the future, they hope for regulatory changes that will enable more creative marketing, including innovative packaging. Despite the uncertainties and the challenges they’ve faced, Kyra and Lane remain committed to their vision—creating a cannabis brand that resonates with consumers, much like the tourists at the Dole Pineapple Plantation.bulk of operations. The personal love and attention comes through in their cannabis.

The Product for Competition

Purple Gushers (House Genetics Tiki Madman Gushers x Hawaiian Pineapple)  is Pineapple Buds’ entry for the Karma Cup. A recent release in Ontario, this strain has already received rave reviews for its beautiful purple appearance, loud flavours, and pleasant high. They’ve carefully selected it for its striking visual appeal, loud flavours and the pleasurable experience it provides to consumers.

The Genetics

The founders of Pineapple Buds have a discerning eye for cannabis genetics. Knowing that a competitive market requires unique and high-quality cultivars, they’ve made sure to bring their own legacy genetics into the system. Their focus is primarily on vibrant sativa strains and a couple of hybrids, all offering their own unique, aromatic profiles. With a large genetic library and plans for numerous seed pheno hunts in the future, Pineapple Buds is committed to consistently deliver distinctive, top-tier strains. Purple Gushers was bred by In-House Genetics (Tiki Madman Gushers x Hawaiian Pineapple)

The Growing Techniques and Equipment

Pineapple Buds uses a Deep Water Culture growing method, specifically the Under Current system from Current Culture. Although it had a higher setup cost, Kyra and Lane noticed impressive growth rates and economic efficiency with this system. A mix of HPS and LED lighting caters to the plants’ needs, while the use of nitrogen salts as nutrients completes their carefully curated cultivation setup. The entire process is handled by the duo, ensuring a personal touch at every stage of growth.

Curing and Post-Harvest Processing

Pineapple Buds believes in the importance of proper curing and post-harvest processing to maintain the quality of the final product. Attention to detail is key here, as the duo ensures that each batch is cared for daily to achieve the optimal moisture level. Their dedication to quality is apparent in their decision to hang dry their cannabis and to allow it a 30-day cure.

Packaging and Branding

Maintaining the freshness of the product during transportation is paramount. To achieve this, Pineapple Buds uses nitrogen packaging, a method that cushions the buds and ensures they maintain their quality throughout the supply chain process. Moreover, they’re constantly open to consumer feedback and ready to adapt their packaging practices to enhance the overall customer experience. The brand’s focus is on serving educated consumers who appreciate flavour and can discern the care that goes into every bag of Pineapple Buds.

Conclusion

With a unique brand story, an unwavering commitment to quality, and a dedicated customer base, Pineapple Buds is making waves in the cannabis industry. As they look towards the future, they hope for regulatory changes that will allow for more creative marketing, including innovative packaging. Don’t miss out on Pineapple Buds’ exciting journey and be sure to check them out at the upcoming Karma Cup awards ceremony on September 18th.
